“Good God, Cheyenne you are going to kill Jon.”
“Thank you Joe. That’s not exactly my plan though…”
From all the reactions so far she knew she would do Jon proud. The paparazzi will probably be all over them and at least she could feel confident about her looks.
They arrived at the venue. The world was bright with all the flashes going off. She fidgeted with her dress, not sure about the decision to come here.
‘Where is Jon, Joe?”
“Well, I guess he is still at the back. He is singing a song or two and then he’ll join you at the table.”
“Oh, God so I have to go in alone?” Her eyes were huge and she bit her lip nervously.
“Jon asked me to accompany you to the table. I’m not Jon but I guess it’s better than going in alone..” He winked at her and smile.
She hooked her arm through his and flashed her brilliant smile.
The table was big enough for two and as far as the eye can see there were celebrities. She put on her most sexiest smile, a very nervous smile.
It didn’t take long before the event started. Cheyenne drank some wine, hoping it would calm her nerves. Their table was close to the stage and there was a good chance that Jon would notice her.
An hour later they announced Jon’s name. A flutter started up in her stomach.
Jon came up on stage and a loud clapping followed. He was loved even in the world of celebrities, he was a huge hit. She has always loved him in leather or jeans. Suits just wasn’t Jon , but the tux took her breath away…he looked good enough to eat.
“Tonight I want to sing a beautiful song written by Leonard Cowen. I heard this song and I just knew ..I should have written it…well I guess its too late now, so I’ll have to just sing it to you tonight..”
The notes of Hallelujah filled the air.
I’ve heard there was a secret cord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music do you?
Well, it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Cheyenne closed her eyes letting his voice wash over her. His voice was strong but so emotional, Cheyenne felt goose bumps crawl up her arms.
But remember when I moved in you,
And the Holy Ghost was moving too,
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah…
A strange feeling made her open her eyes, her breath caught in her throat. He was looking straight at her.. his eyes dark and a sexy smile on his full lips.
She was mesmerized, his eyes were hypnotic, locking with hers and then suddenly he broke the moment, his eyes drifting over the crowd.
When the song came to an end the people were on their feet, a loud applause broke loose.
‘Thank, you, well the next song is one of our old favourites. We brought out a record called This left feels right and we sat down, took the song, polished it up a bit and this is what we came up with..”
The familiar notes of It’s my life filled the air. He looked at her only once during the song, Cheyenne took a sip of her wine. She could feel the wine was working its magic on her and she welcomed the relaxed feeling it offered her. The wine mixing with Jon’s voice was heaven.
Jon received a loud applause yet again. He waved and left the stage. Excitement rushed through her body at the thought of Jon coming to the table.
She saw in the corner of her eye that he tried to make his way to the table. She decided to keep her eyes on the performers on stage, not wanting to stare at him like a horny teenager. A few people stopped him on the way and it took him a bit longer than usual to get to the table.
She almost gasped the moment she felt his sweet breath whispering in her ear.
