Cheyenne woke up during the night a film of sweat on her brow, her heart pounding in her ears, trying to shake the horrible nightmare. Jon was looking down at her, a worried look on his face.
“You haven’t had a nightmare in a long time, baby. Whats wrong?”
Tears welled up in her eyes. It was harder to keep this from him than she thought.
“Just hold me, it’s over now. Just hold me ok?”
He frowned at her desperate plea. Something was wrong, he knew it. But Cheyenne wouldn’t keep something from him, he was sure of that.
He wrapped her in his arms, holding her until he felt her steady breathing. Her tearstained face tugged at his heart. He hated to see her cry. Maybe she wasn’t over the Mark thing yet.
He fell asleep eventually, a nagging feeling causing him a restless night.
Cheyenne woke up a pounding in her brain making her squirm. Jon sat on the side of the bed fully dressed, nursing a hangover.
How does he do that? Looking like a god after last nights drinking?
She didn’t have too much to drink , it must have been the horrible nightmares. Mark’s face turning into Kenny’s face and visa versa. They haunted her dreams the whole night, leaving her emotionally drained.
“Have some aspirin for me too?”
He turned and handed her two tablets giving her the glass of water.
“Yours is definitely not a hangover. But baby you had some serious nightmares last night? Want to talk about it?” He squinted at her, trying to let as minimal light into his eyes as possible.
She would give anything to tell him, but she could never cause trouble between him and his working partners. Nothing serious happened anyway. She would just get over this by herself.
‘Nope just the same old nightmares haunting me, but I’m fine now. I’m gonna make us some coffee.”
She kissed him on the top of his head, going to the kitchen, too scared Jon may read something more in her eyes.
She handed him the coffee and he drank it like a man stranded in the desert for too long.
“Baby I’m going for a run, it always helps for the hangover. You go lie down and see if you can get rid if your headache, k?”
She lay down on the bed , closing her eyes wishing the headache would ease just bit…
She woke up from a knock on the door. Groaning to herself she wrapped her gown around her and opened the door. Her headache was gone, but she still had the thickhead feeling after a migraine attack.
She felt herself sway as she saw the blond giant standing in the doorway.
“Oh..God!” She tried to slam the door in his face but he blocked it with his foot and walked in.
Her heart was racing and she felt nauseous.
“I need to talk to you. I take it Jon is not here?”
“No, but I don’t want to talk to you and if you don’t go now I’ll scream this roof off.”
“Please give me a minute. I promise you I mean you no harm. But what I have to say can’t be said in the corridor.”
“You have 3 minutes and then you’re out.” She moved away from the door making sure there was furniture between them at all times.
“I came to apologise for my horrible behaviour last night. I cannot remember everything but what John told me…fuck…I’m so sorry Cheyenne. I don’t know what the fuck went through my head. Too much liquor and a beautiful woman…..ok now you don’t need the gory details about what’s going on in my screwed mind. There is just no excuse for what I have done. I find you very attractive and sexy as hell and I guess the liquor robbed me of my restraints. Can you forgive me?” He was pale and nervous, he moved towards her but the fear in her eyes froze him at the spot.
“Apology accepted. I don’t want to be rude but I am in my nighties and Jon could come back at any moment. Would you please leave?”
“Of cause. Please forgive me. I heard that you didn’t tell Jon which I appreciate very much. Thank you and I’m sorry.”
“Sorry for what?”
Jon was in the doorway, his fists bulging and his eyes a dangerous shade of blue, Richie was right behind him, fury written all over his face.
Cheyenne gasped and clutched her robe to her body in a defensive gesture.
Kenny looked at her and turned towards Jon and Richie.
‘Hi Jon. I’ve been looking for you, just apologised to the lady for intruding I thought you were here. I wanted to talk to you about something.”
