She turned and looked at Richie, He seemed to be his old self again, but in his eyes the shadows were unmistakable. She hated to see this cheerful guy like this. She stood on her toes and gave him a peck on the cheek, he took his hand and caught a tendril blowing into her eyes. He had a vulnerable little smile edged on his lips.
“Everything will change for you, Rich! Just wait and see, there is someone for you out there..”
“I just hope she comes before I need crutches to help me around! I’m already an old man…time is not on my side…”
“Old man! There’s nothing old about you! You are still a sexy rocker, making women’s heads spin, and you are going to be for years and years to come!”
“You are good for my soul you know that, sweetheart? Don’t you maybe have a sister or a twin tucked away somewhere?”
“Nope sorry. You will have to get a girl the normal way…dating, not hitting on some relative…for God sake you are Richie Sambora!”
“That’s the problem right there honey…the only thing I see daily, is screaming fans and groupies. It’s difficult to meet a good woman, just because you are a man.”
He hugged her close and that’s when Cheyenne became aware of a pair of icy blue eyes staring at them.
She smiled at him but he just turned around and went inside the studio.
Jon ignored her for the rest of the day. Cheyenne decided to stay out of his way and went down to see how the cottage cleaning was progressing. The maids were scrubbing and moving. Painters were busy painting the little place. It had a cosy feeling to it and Cheyenne knew she would be so happy living there.
She strolled back to her room to pack her suitcase. She was so excited about the prospect of seeing her friend and doing girly stuff. Shelby was lying on the rug and Cheyenne’s eyes fell on her.
I hope she’s gonna be ok!
Violet came in with a tray and some mouth watering snacks.
“Violet are you trying to fatten me up for Thanksgiving dinner?”
“No, my dear. But I think a few pounds on you wouldn’t be that bad.”
She winked at her.
“Why are you packing your bag? There are people here that are suppose to do it for you!” She turned around but Cheyenne stopped her.
“It’s really not necessary Violet. Really. I have nothing to do but to pack my stuff! I’m not used to be idle like this! You are spoiling me rotten!”
“Well after what you’ve been through, I think no one deserves it more than you!”
She gave Violet a hug.
“You know you make me think of my mother?”
Violet blushed a little but the joy in her eyes made them glitter like stars.
“I’m going to miss all the mothering this coming week!”
“Well I guess you better be sure to come back then, so we can make up for lost time!”
The sweet old woman walked out, not wanting Cheyenne to see the tears in her eyes.
