Chapter 326

Cheyenne stayed a bit longer than necessary in the warm water, giving the pills time to kick in. She knew that if he even showed the slightest discomfort Jon would have picked up on it.

Violet insisted on waiting for her outside the bathroom, in case she needed her. When Cheyenne eventually got out the pain was a dull ache in her lower back.

Violet left after Cheyenne walked into the bedroom, satisfied that her color returned a bit and that she managed to get out of the bath by herself.

Cheyenne was dressed, rubbing her lower back when Jon walked in. He had a shower in the other room and was now dressed in warm clothes.

He noticed her rubbing her back and moved in behind her, taking over.

“Honey I cannot thank you enough for saving Romeo today. God knows what would have happened if you didn’t realise something was wrong. How did you know by the way?”

She gave a chuckle, leaning into his welcoming massage.

“I sneaked some fudge out for me and the boys and that’s when I noticed Jakie at the swimmingpool.”

The lunch was superb, but by the time it was over, Romeo’s eyes were flickering sleepily, his little head nodding as he fought to stay awake.

“Well I guess that is my cue. I don’t want to be rude, but today was a bit much for us all. I think you could use some rest about now, heroin of the hour!”

Dot winked at her and Cheyenne smiled, feeling like cracking her teeth as she tried to hide the knot pounding in her pelvis.

No one except Violet noticed that Cheyenne didn’t accompany them to the car.
