Cheyenne felt the earth sway..all she remembered was Jon’s voice calling out to her and Richie’s hands on her..
When she opened her eyes, Jon was staring at her, his hand brushing her pale cheeks. She lay on the couch, Richie was on her phone his face an unhealthy ashen colour .
“Fuck you gave us a fright honey. If Richie wasn’t close enough you would have hit your head on the tiles.”
Reality hit her and she started crying. “Oh my God Stace I have to get to Stace as soon as possible.
“Richie walked over to her, wrapping her in his arms.
“I’m so sorry , honey.” He looked up at Jon’s confused face.
“Wayne died in a car accident earlier today.”
“Oh my dear God!” She turned towards Jon and he wrapped her in his arms.
“Oh, honey I’m sorry. I know you’ve known Wayne since you were teenagers! How horrible, the wedding and all the plans they made for the future! I’m going to get the plane ready for you for tomorrow morning baby. Stacey needs you now more than ever!”
“Thank you. I need to go to her. She loved that man more than herself. He was all she had. They lived for each other….Oh God.” Sobs shook her body and all Jon could do was to hold her, giving her comfort.
Richie was standing there, a hopeless look on his face.
“I’ll let her know you will see her tomorrow.”
It was a long night for Cheyenne and she barely slept. She just hung onto the warm muscular body next to her, her mind in a total spin.
At daybreak she decided to get up, take a warm bath and pack her bag. She needed to pack something black for the funeral..Wayne’s funeral..
Jon found her in the bath, her beautiful eyes swollen from all the crying.
He knelt down and stroked her cheek , kissing her eyelids softly.
‘Oh, baby it breaks my heart to see you like this. I wish I could take all your heartache away.”
“I’ll be ok, I’m just so scared to get off the plane…what do I say, what do I do?”
“Baby, you just get off that plane, put your arms around her, let her cry, let her scream , let her laugh if she needs to..just be there for her.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“My schedule is packed, but I’ll try my best to be at the funeral, k?”
“That’s not necessary , I understand you’re busy. Stace would understand!”
“I want to be there for you , baby. I hate to leave you at a time like this.”
Jon and Richie accompanied her to the plane. She held on to him for dear life, not wanting to let go.
